A local school has encouraged students to express themselves and celebrate their individuality with Odd Socks Day.
Bratton Primary School took part in the event, which marks the start of Anti-Bullying Week, on Monday 10th November.
“Odd Socks Day is all about embracing and celebrating people’s differences, and at Bratton Primary School we love to celebrate what makes everyone unique and to raise awareness about bullying in a positive and inclusive way,” said Louise Bunce, health and safety officer and admin officer at the school.
“Most importantly, Odd Socks Day is designed to be fun! It’s an opportunity to encourage people to express themselves and celebrate their individuality and what makes us all unique whilst spreading kindness.
“Anti-Bullying Week also ties into the school’s core values of Kind, Respectful, Honest and Safe.”
This year, Anti-Bullying Week aimed to inspire and empower children and young people to use their power for good, to speak out, support others and build a world where kindness wins.
Throughout the week, students at Bratton Primary School learnt about caring friendships and how to support friends when they are worried or upset, including how to report concerns. Students also learnt how to empower each other to do something positive and counter the harm and hurt that bullying causes.
