THE Rotary Club of Westbury held their annual Christmas concert at All Saints Church on Monday 3rd December, with three local schools performing.
The church was at full capacity to hear choirs from Dilton Marsh Primary School, Matravers School and Bitham Brook Primary School perform Christmas hits, pantomime songs and popular songs.
The congregation was also encouraged to join in with well-known Christmas carols.
The children were visited by a special guest, Father Christmas, who gave each child a bag of sweets.
Refreshments of mince pies, sausage rolls, tea and coffee were provided by the Inner Wheel of Westbury and a retiring collection for Rotary’s chosen charities was collected during the final carol.
Mervyn Harris, president of the Rotary Club said, “It was thrilling to have a packed All Saints Church to hear and enjoy the singing of three choirs from our local schools.
“Under their respective musical directors, each choir sang suitably festive music with energy, skill and commitment.
“Lots of parents, grandparents and friends were there to give them support, and the display of illuminated Christmas trees gave the church a very attractive festive appearance.
“It was a great privilege for Westbury Rotary Club to put on this event, with help from the Inner Wheel Club of Westbury and members of the church PCC. We hope the evening will become a regular event in the Westbury ‘Christmas Diary.’”
