Sell out audiences for Dilton Players’ Cinderella

THE Dilton Players performed Cinderella to sell-out audiences across three shows earlier this month.

“It’s a real community and family affair,” said writer and director Lisa Laycock. “We have so many people involved in the show and helping behind the scenes with props, scenery, costumes, tea and coffee making, make-up, wardrobe, sound and lights.  It is wonderful to see families involved with mums, dads, brothers, sisters and even grandparents helping out.

“The costumes were amazing and Trina Murphy is a genius with designing the stage and organising the costumes and props as well as other things. It was a fantastic team effort and everyone involved should be very proud of themselves. I can say I am very proud of each and every one of those who have helped get this show together.

“Macy Wrintmore was fabulous as Cinderella with Laura Brackstone playing the dashing Prince Charming. The Ugly Sisters played by Suzanne McGee and Kay Farley were hilarious throughout and wowed the crowd with their rendition of Kiss Me Honey Honey. Jasmine Murphy played the role of the evil stepmother magnificently alongside Cinderella’s downtrodden father Sir Boris played by Alison Irving.

“Buttons played by Leon Ayers got lots of laughs, especially as he also played the King alongside our lovely Queen played by Ruth Seelig. Our other cast members included Toby, Callum and Casey Nichols, Justice Ayers, Kathryn McGee, Harmony Curtis and Harry Houghton.

“There were lots of children involved in the show too, aged from six upwards. The junior chorus alone numbered 13 children with an additional eight taking other roles as well as our young pianist Matthew Oley, not forgetting Luke Nichols who was truly an unsung hero behind the scenes.

“This year is a little sad as we will be bidding a very fond farewell to Louise Fisher and her daughter Laura Brackstone.  Along with Laura’s brother Josh, they have been involved with the Dilton Players for more than 12 years so it feels like the end of an era and they will certainly be missed.

“All money taken from ticket sales go to funding the next production.  Donations from teas and coffees during the interval have also raised £70 for Sarah Woolley who is raising money for her International Citizen Placement with Raleigh International to Nicaragua in March.

If anyone wants to get involved with the Dilton Players either off stage or on then please contact Lisa Laycock on 0796 2087151.
