WESTBURY Town Council has begun their urgent repairs on play parks in the town, with more scheduled for improvements over the coming weeks.
It was agreed by Westbury Town Council in August this year that more attention will be put towards maintaining the safety of the town’s parks.
This included a spend of £35,338 to repair the safety surfaces or ‘wet pour’ in the 10 play areas that they took responsibility of last year from Wiltshire Council.
These safety works began last month, starting with Timor Road, Becks Mill and Primmers Place play areas – all of which are complete.
They have scheduled to carry out repair work on Chestnut, Grassacres and Penleigh, week commencing 14th October. This is weather dependant.
Westbury Town Council said, “We have been working hard to make improvements to your play areas. The work currently taking place is to replace the wet pour found around play equipment. Wet pour is a rubber safety surface made up of small granules of rubber mixture, with a polyurethane binder.
“Tiger Mulch has been used at Becks Mill and this is a mixture of recycled shredded tyres and high performance polyurethane binder. We have used this where large areas need repairing and for small repairs we have used wet pour.”
