CHRISTMAS in Westbury, a festive celebration featuring live music, markets, Father Christmas, magic and festive food, will take place on Saturday 30th November.
Don’t miss the grand Christmas lights switch-on at 6.30pm in the Market Place, by the winner of this year’s mayor’s Christmas card competition, and see the town illuminated ready for the festive holidays.
Organisers say, “Residents will be treated to an array of great acts in the Market Place from 4pm, while a bumper market in the Parish Hall and through Maristow Street will have plenty to fill Christmas stockings.
“This year the town hosts the Rosa Gray Band for the first time. They are a unique feel-good upbeat outfit blending jazz, pop and soul. With sassy original songs and great horn lines, this Bristol-based six-piece go all out to entertain the crowds from the stage!
“Crowd favourites The CleyHill Stompers will be returning to light up the stage with their rock and roll sound. And there will be entertainment from Phil Cooper, Kirsty Clinch and the Frome Street Bandits.
“The market place will be full of tasty food options for the whole family, while those with a sweeter tooth will find hot donuts and candy floss near the High Street funfair.
“As well as the funfair, children will also be treated to a mysterious magician in the afternoon, as well as face painting and some arts and crafts fun.
“The Christmas spirit has also caught the imagination of businesses in the town. Plenty of shop fronts are competing in this year’s Christmas window competition, while Morrisons have kindly provided a Christmas hamper for the town council’s raffle. It’s free to enter at the town council tent.
“The funfair will be up and running around 11am, followed by the markets at 1pm. Luckily, Father Christmas has been able to take time out of his busy schedule, to join us from 2pm.”
