AN urgent appeal has been made for donations of outgrown Matravers School uniforms for a pass-it-on event.
Local community action group, Popcan, are holding the school uniform event on Wednesday 2nd June between 10am to 12noon at the Westbury Community Project in Eden Vale Road. Anyone also in need of a uniform for Westbury junior and infant schools and Leigh Park primary can attend, free of charge.
Recently, parents have made calls on social media for local schools to make their uniforms more affordable by, for example, ditching blazers and replacing shirts with polo shirts. Events such as pass-it-on help to reduce the cost of buying new uniforms.
Popcan chair, Sheila Kimmins said, “It’s Matravers School uniforms we urgently need. There are a number of families with parents who have been made redundant or on furlough during the pandemic who cannot afford the uniform, or single parents who have told me there is no way they can afford them.”
Sheila said she would happily collect any pre-worn but no longer needed Matravers uniforms people could spare. Email sheila.kimmins@westburytowncouncil.gov.uk
