A COUNCILLOR has resigned from Westbury Town Council, bringing the tally of resignations to 10 town councillors during the past three years. Rather than holding a by-election for the latest vacancy, the seat will be contested as part of the town council elections, which will be held in May.
Charles Pope, Conservative, (pictured) has resigned as councillor for the Laverton ward due to business commitments. He joined the town council in March 2011, and had been a member of the general purposes committee.
Town council elections will be held on 2nd May, when all 16 seats on the council will come up for election. Nominations for candidates can be submitted from Monday 18th March, with a deadline of 12.00 noon on Friday 5th April.
