FANS of vintage vehicles defied the winds and rain of Storm Hannah last month to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Westbury Transport & Vintage Gathering.
On offer to enjoy at the annual event were a wealth of classic and vintage vehicles and machinery on display, including a Leyland Tiger, cars, trucks, stationary engines and tractors.
One of the organisers, Keith Miller, told White Horse News, “It was a weekend of two halves! Saturday was horrendously windy, and it rained heavily for most of the time. It was the strongest wind I have ever experienced in that field! Therefore the number of visitors and exhibitors was down on that day.
“But, everyone showed great ‘Dunkirk spirit’ and hunkered down for the day. There was tremendous spirit shown by everyone there – it was marvellous!
“Sunday was completely different, and turned out to be a very good day. The sun shone, the wind dropped and we had more visitors and exhibits show up.
“What looked like being a total disaster for our 25th anniversary because of the weather, turned out to be a very good weekend. People were determined to have a good time and we damn well did!”
