GOOD Samaritan, a family-run volunteer driving scheme, has made the decision to close down.
Tony Hall, alongside his wife Trina and mum Jane, ran ‘Good Samaritan’, a not-for-profit volunteer driver service that takes those in need to hospital appointments, shopping or visit to friends and family in nursing homes or in hospital. The service had been running for over two years.
Tony Hall said, “It is with great sadness that I have decided to close down Good Samaritan for good. I’ve had a good run with the charity and have been in a position to meet some wonderful people who I have become friends with. It’s with great sadness that I have come to this decision but I just don’t want to be on the roads any more.
“I’d like to say a big thank you to the White Horse News for supporting Good Samaritan in the past and all the people that have used Good Samaritan since.
“It has been a great honour to help so many wonderful people of Westbury, young and old alike. I would like to say thank you for allowing me to be part of your lives and your journeys, but its time to hang up my car keys for good.
“I would also like to say that we have a great Link scheme in Westbury, so please carry on supporting it, they just need a couple of days’ notice if you have to go somewhere. Their telephone number is 01373 859669 and their phone lines are usually open Monday to Friday 9am to 1pm, they have a website address at www.westburyanddistrict linkscheme.co.uk.
“Thank you again to all who have supported Good Samaritan in the past and I’ll treasure my memories that I’ve had with you all.”
