New Westbury residents Angela and Mike Dale will be starting weekly afternoon social tea dances in Westbury Leigh Community Hall, starting on Tuesday 30th September.
The couple are long-time dancers; they have been involved with social dances in Reading and Cornwall, and Angela, who learnt to dance aged 7, has competed for many years.
There will be a variety of dances set to carefully selected and appropriate music. Angela and Mike will host the relaxed sessions, and are committed to making sure everyone is made welcome and has an enjoyable time.
Angela said, “We spent a long time looking for somewhere, and eventually found the Westbury Leigh Community Hall. The underfloor heated and sprung wooden floor is excellent for dancing.
“The venue has such a warm and welcoming atmosphere, with all the facilities needed to ensure everyone is comfortable.
“Having seen what the dances meant to local communities elsewhere, we wanted to start one in Westbury. The dances will be ideal for those who enjoy sequence, ballroom and Latin American dancing, having a cup of tea/coffee with home-made cakes/buns and socialising with friends, as well as making new friends. Beginners and singles will be very welcome.”
Mike added, “We hope the dances will become well attended and if so, we will seriously consider holding a monthly evening dance – hopefully even with a live dance band!”
The dances will be from 2.00pm to 4.30pm, breaking at around 3.00pm for supplied refreshments.
The first session is at 2.00pm on Tuesday 30th September at Westbury Leigh Community Hall. Admission is £3.50 per person and there will be free onsite parking and nearby.
