WESTBURY fashion student has seen her work displayed in a leading sector magazine for the lingerie industry.
Phoebe Plows, 21, a former student of Matravers, Westbury Juniors, and Westbury Infants schools, is a contour fashion student studying at De Montfort University in Leicester. She was selected to have her work published following a competition set by magazine Lingerie Buyer and organisers of the UK’s largest fashion trade show, Moda.
The competition asked all students studying the course to create six outfits of swimwear, lingerie, nightwear, loungewear, corsetry or bodywear for the autumn/winter 2014 season.
Students were encouraged to use original inspiration when creating their collection but to also look at work by designers that are known for their extravagant and innovative ideas and use of materials.
Phoebe took inspiration from apocalyptic and post-apocalyptic stories and films.
She said, “I’m a huge fan of horror and zombie films so I thought it would be a great place to get some inspiration from.
“I feel very privileged and excited to have my work shown in Lingerie Buyer. It’s a great feeling to be flicking through a magazine and see your work and your name in there.”
Gillian Proctor, programme leader for the contour fashion course said, “This competition gives students great experience in creating pieces for an external client and for them to see their work displayed in the leading lingerie magazine – alongside big name brands and designers – is amazing and will hopefully provide a boost for their future careers.”
