OPEN up your calendars and mark the fortnight of 25th September to 9th October as one to remember, as plans for this year’s Westbury Festival are gathering pace!
The festival, which is held in venues across the town, is one of the town’s biggest events, and will be one of the first post-lockdown events for the community to enjoy.
Following the news last week that the government hopes to lift all legal limits on social contact by 21st June, the festival’s committee has told White Horse News that they hope that this year’s event will be “bigger and better” than ever before!
Chair of Westbury Festival, Ian Cunningham said, “The committee and, we hope, local people were very disappointed that we couldn’t run the festival or any of our outlier events last year.
“The good news, however, is that it has made planning for 2021 easier than usual because we are currently in the process of rebooking many of the acts and events from last year.
“We hope that the 2021 festival will be even bigger and better than in previous years. We don’t control the future but the outlook is promising and we hope to publish our outline schedule soon.
“To whet your appetite we have, among lots of other events, confirmed a talk by Channel 5’s ‘Yorkshire Shepherdess’, Amanda Owen, a ‘fireside chat’ giving a glimpse of what goes on behind the scenes of the Army Officers’ Selection Board at Leighton House, and of course our hugely popular lunchtime concerts at All Saints Church which will form the backbone of the festival.
“Obviously, all our plans are provisional, but we have our fingers crossed.”
