PUPILS from Westbury Leigh Primary School recently took part in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the world’s largest reading lesson.
Pupils from year 4 and 5 joined 75 other schools to try and break the current record of 3,509 participants set by Eastbourne Secondary Schools in July 2014.
All participating pupils listened to J.K Rowling read the first chapter of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows at the same time on Friday 24th June from an online TV feed.
Event organiser and English teacher, Julie Cann said, “We thought this was a unique way of reminding children just how much fun reading is.” Pupils will find out if their attempt has been successful in three weeks’ time when all the results have been checked and verified.
