THE mayor of Westbury has successfully completed the Bath Half Marathon smashing his target time and raising money in the process
David Windess completed the gruelling 13.1 mile race alongside 12,000 other runners in two hours 13 minutes to finish well under his target time of two hours 45 minutes.
He ran for Bath Cats & Dogs Home raising £480, with that figure still rising.
David said, “I was very happy with the time; I was hoping to complete the event in under 2hrs 45 min so I was well under. At the finish I was very tired but very happy and thanks to my trainer, Tracey Hyde from Westbury Running Club, all the hard work and training paid off very well.
“I would like to thank everyone that supported me and all the people that lined the streets to cheer us all on – it was very encouraging. I have the bug now and I am looking to do more runs in the future.”
Caroline Hook from Bath Cats & Dogs Home said, “David has been training tirelessly, come rain or shine, for the last few months and so far has raised a great amount in sponsorship money.”
