WESTBURY Rugby Club are just two games away from playing at Twickenham Stadium after winning the Southern Counties Junior Shield Final over the weekend.
Westbury RFC beat Faringdon RFC 31-22 on Saturday 22nd February to progress them through to the next stage of the national cup.
This is the team’s second final win this season and will now see them face the South West Counties Champions, Old Cryptians of Gloucester in the South West cup final next month.
If they are successful, they will then progress to the national semi-final in April before playing the national final at England rugby’s hallowed ground, Twickenham Stadium.
The team is coached by Gareth ‘Foggy’ Vaughan who was named White Horse News’ Westbury Person of the Year 2019 and continues to lead the team to victory in 2020.
The club said, “After a great win over the weekend, we go through to another final. The players and the rest of the club send massive thanks to everyone who travelled with us and supported us through a tough match against Faringdon.
“Hopefully we can have the same amount of support for the next cup game.”
The South West cup final against Old Cryptians is on Saturday 14th March at home, at Knott Field.
