INSPIRING young people of Westbury have been recognised for their ‘outstanding’ contributions within the community at a special award ceremony last week.
The inaugural Westbury Young People Awards ceremony took place at Matravers School on Friday 10th March with special performances from Matravers dance students and Dilton Junior Players.
Accolades were given out in 11 categories; the winners were as follows: Ethan Sims won the Young Achiever Award for facing adversity after a nasty accident on his bike; Westbury Leos won the Volunteering Award for their commitment to the town; Catherine Jones won the Young Leader Award for inspiring and supporting young swimmers; Hannah Meaden won the Young Voice Award for her commitment to young swimmers at Westbury Swimming Club; Fairfield Farm College won the School Council Award for their positive and professional approach to school council; Millie Gmaj won the Individual Arts Award for her hard work and dedication to the arts; Dilton Junior Players won the Team Arts Award for their tireless work in putting together and performing local shows and pantomimes; Hayden Bailey won the Sporting Individual Award for his achievements in running; Westbury Youth Under 13s won the Sporting Team Award for their resilience through tough times at the club; Alex Tilley and Jacob Harrington both won the Young Carer Award for caring for their family members and Mya Drury won the Chairman’s Award for donating her hair to The Little Princess Trust.
