YOUNG fundraiser, Lucas Wint, will continue to raise money for Bath Cancer Unit this year, including taking part in the Bowerhill Bomber 5k next month.
Last year, Lucas decided to raise money for Bath’s Cancer Unit following his best friend’s grandmother being diagnosed with the disease.
Despite the challenging weather, being halted by snow, Lucas’ determination saw him run his first ever 5k raising more than £675.
This year, he has decided to run the Bowerhill Bomber 5k again, hosted by local race organisers Redfish Events.
Frances Wint, Lucas’ mother said, “A year has already passed since Lucas’ last fundraising stint, but within this year he has witnessed his best friend and family go through one of the worst moments of their life. After what was an incredibly brave fight put up by an equally incredible lady, her fight against the horrid, devastating disease was lost.
“A truly wonderful lady (who had always taken an interest in Lucas and his running) sadly passed away in September. Lucas has seen the effect this has had on her family and has chosen to try to raise some funds in her memory for a charity close to their hearts.
“Lucas desperately wants to help a fantastic charity raise vital funds for equipment and support for families who find themselves fighting the fight.
“He has decided to run Redfish’s Bowerhill Bomber (Winter) 5k again this year (please keep fingers crossed the weather is kind to them this time and it doesn’t snow!)
“If you are in any way able to donate to this worthy cause we would be so grateful – Lucas, in his words, just has the ‘easy’ bit of running 5k!”
