RUNNERS from across the South West competed in the Westbury Lions’ annual 10k race on Sunday 6th October, raising money for the community.
The White Horse Country Park was home again to the event, with 128 runners tackling the course, battling it out for trophies and medals for successfully running the distance.
Fastest male runner was John Reed from Warminster with a finishing time of 37.32; fastest female was awarded to Veryan Cranston from Avon Valley Runners in a time of 43.08; fastest male vet was won by Anthony Sprules of Frome Running Club in a time of 44.00 and the fastest female vet was awarded to Sally Somers in a time of 45.40.
Michelle Strout, president of Westbury Lions, said, “Thank you to everyone who took part and supported us, and also huge thanks to the volunteers who helped us make the day such an enjoyable one. As always, the money we raised from today will all go back to supporting the community. We are so happy that the weather was kind to us. It was a fantastic turnout with over 130 runners registered to run and 128 runners finishing the race.”
