As the town comes together to commemorate the centenary of the end of World War 1, poppy displays are planned around the town, but help is needed to complete them!
For months, volunteers have been busy with their knitting needles and crochet hooks and over 1,000 poppies have already been used in planned displays. However they still need over 2,000 poppies to sew into the main and largest display.
Emma Symonds at E.J Crafts, was responsible for the display last year, will again be decorating the area around the town war memorial and Church Lane that leads into All Saints’ Churchyard.
Westbury Family History Group has also planned a knitted poppy display inside All Saints Church to go alongside their exhibition which will honour the men of the Westbury area who went to serve in World War 1. This will be available to see from Sunday 11th November.
They are planning some ‘drop in’ sessions in the parish hall to create the last batch of poppies and would welcome help from the community to achieve this.
