A SCHOOL committee has donated £9,500 to Westbury Leigh Primary School to allow a timber trim trail to be built in the playground.
With the help of the school’s Friends of Westbury Leigh committee (FOWLS), the school children will receive the new play equipment thanks to a generous donation of £9,500.
Headteacher Debbie Grimsey said, “This really goes to show how the generosity of our parents can really help develop our school for the benefit of the children.
“I would like to thank all our parents who have supported our non-school uniform days and FOWLS events such as the school discos and the annual barbecue. I would also like to say a big thank you to all our FOWLS committee members who give up their time to organise and run these worthwhile events.”
In 2014, the children from the school council decided they wanted to improve their outside school grounds for use at play times by adding a trim trail to the playground, but the changes came with an estimated cost of £10,000.
Chair of the committee, Deborah Howells, is delighted and gives her thanks to the support from parents in the previous year that they have been able to give so much to the school.
