WESTBURY Inner Wheel celebrated the club’s 60th Charter Anniversary at the Conference Centre at Standerwick, on 12th October.
Valerie Algar said, “We were joined by the Inner Wheel District Chairman, Lynne Evans MBE, together with members from other IW clubs in the district, members of Rotary and guests. We were especially delighted that Mrs Eileen Rickard, one of the club’s earliest members was able to travel up from Lyme Regis to join us.
“On behalf of Westbury Rotary Club, President David Perkins presented IW President Joanna Earney with a new bell for use at meetings. During the evening, a two-course meal was followed by a trip down memory lane, beginning with President Joanna giving us snippets of information about what was happening nationally in 1957.
“Musical entertainment was provided by Lee Ingram featuring songs through the decades, whilst old photographs of members were projected on to a screen, some of which showed us performing in the Rotary Music Hall productions we took part in some years ago. An enjoyable afternoon was had by all.
“At our club meeting on 5th October it was agreed that we would hold our monthly meetings during the winter months at lunch time at The Horse & Groom Pub in Westbury, commencing on 2nd November.
“A coach trip has been arranged for a shopping trip to Southampton. The coach will pick up at Bratton at 10.00am and also at Westbury and then Warminster service station. It will drop us right outside the shopping mall and leave at 4.00 pm.
“There are seats available at a cost of £11 to include a tip for the driver. Please contact Mrs Jean Heath on 01380 830554 for further information.
“We are also advertising a Charity Bingo Night in aid of Julia’s House Children’s Hospice on Friday 17th November at 7pm at Leigh Park Community Centre.”
