THEFTS of metal continue to plague the area as three more incidents were reported over the last fortnight.
Police report, “Over-night on the 26/27th of October offenders forced open a number of storage containers located at a business premises on the West Wilts Trading Estate in Westbury and attempted to remove metal items. It appears the suspects may have been disturbed.
“Over the period between 28th October and 1st November stainless steel metal was stolen from a different business on the West Wilts Trading Estate.
“Overnight on the 1st/2nd November a quantity of aluminium sheep hurdles and gates were stolen from a premises located in Chalford.”
Area Inspector Lindsey Winter said, “This week has seen a number of reported thefts of metal across the Warminster/ Westbury area. The types of metal/structure/appearance differs but the emphasis/motive is suspected to be on the value of metal and what the offenders are able to obtain for the stolen items at various outlets who take/receive scrap metal for cash.
“There have been three thefts in the Westbury area, one in Warminster and one in the Deverill Valley. It is likely that all the metal stolen in these incidents will be offered for sale locally or disposed of at premises which take scrap metal for cash.
“The police at Warminster would be keen to hear from anyone able to help them with their enquiries. The duty Sgt can be contacted on 101 extn 726815.”
